The Landau-Siegel zero problem is a special and important case of the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis. It was first introduced by Dirichlet in 1837 when he proved his celebrating result on the prime numbers in arithmetic progressins. Since then, many experts of number theory were attracted by this problem.In this talk, I will cover the history, apllication and recent progress on this famous problem.
主講人簡(jiǎn)介：
張益唐教授，著名華人數(shù)學(xué)家，現(xiàn)任中山大學(xué)香港高等研究院應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)研究中心首席科學(xué)家，1978年考入北京大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系，1982-1985年師從著名數(shù)學(xué)家、北京大學(xué)潘承彪教授，攻讀碩士學(xué)位。1992年畢業(yè)于普渡大學(xué)，獲博士學(xué)位。他證明了存在無(wú)窮多對(duì)間隙小于7000萬(wàn)的相鄰素?cái)?shù)對(duì)，在數(shù)學(xué)史上第一次實(shí)質(zhì)性推進(jìn)解決著名數(shù)論難題“孿生素?cái)?shù)猜想”。張益唐教授獲美國(guó)數(shù)學(xué)會(huì)柯?tīng)枖?shù)論獎(jiǎng)（Cole Prize）、瑞典皇家科學(xué)院等設(shè)立的霍夫·肖克獎(jiǎng)(Rolf Schock Prize)、麥克阿瑟天才獎(jiǎng)(MacArthur Fellowship)、奧斯特洛夫斯基獎(jiǎng)(Ostrowski Prize)、求是杰出科學(xué)家獎(jiǎng)等。
